I thought the half-mile moonshiner hike
from the river to be worthwhile. The
cabin had a different look and feel than expected. The
artifacts lying about were a nice touch. Flat Canyon had been the planned camp but still smelled of smoke. That site along with much of the petroglyph area had largely burned as a result of a plane crash. This led us to stop at the
Dripping Springs camp as an alternative. Neither of us liked that site so we selected a
beach camp on the Ute side just below and across from Dripping Springs. The Ute permit came in handy.
