The river was fast and high, but except for the occasional rock obstacle, it was mostly a matter of riding the wave trains. The Minam Roller was a non-event, Red Rock interesting but short, Blind Falls was intense and long. Those were the major rapids ran on day 1 with Blind Falls the crux, partially because of the issues encountered there last year.
Camp was on
river left at roughly mile marker 03. A thunderstorm brought wind and rain around dusk and drove us into our tents. For some odd reason, we ended up with
one tent upstream with the other
50 yards downstream.
