Canyon walls becoming taller by the mile but the afternoon headwinds have us struggling. By the time we reach the
river register at mile 78, any campsite sounds good. It would have been neat to stay the register but a commercial group has it. So it's off to
Hey Joe Canyon which works but would not have been our first choice. Plenty of time to do the hike
up-canyon to the mining debris. Wind gradually dies while the river continues to rise as it has for several days. We are a bit surprised by how much and our
little beach becomes smaller by the hour.
