Day 2 - Chinle Wash Layover
Due to low water, could not get to the mouth of Chinle Wash to camp the first night. The flash from two nights previous had left Chinle running high enough to create the color mix captured in the below photo.
Camped
on the opposite side just downstream from the outlet. In the morning, paddled about a quarter mile downstream to a nice layover
campsite.
Rest of the day spent
day-hiking
and
scenery watching
.
After the day hikes.
How
this lizard
lived long enough to grow over a foot in length mystified me. So curious that he was actually underfoot occasionally. Would watch whatever I was doing for hours on end. The
San Juan
enters into the upper narrows one hundred yards downstream from camp.
