Grande Ronde River - July 27, 2011 - Minam to Boogans - Part 3 of 3

These things all came together resulting in a very long swim in moving rocky class II whitewater and an even longer recovery of the Tomcat, which I must say came through the whole thing with less dings than the paddler. They really are a tough boat.

Anybody can wind up going for an unexpected swim, happens to all of us. Jim had the unfortunate experience of flipping at the head of a long, long class II rock garden. All three of us will pay more attention to the four lesson points in the future.

The really cool part of evening's experience was that after at least a couple of hours of recovering the paddler and the boat when we got to the first possible place to camp there was the cooler with the unsecured lid that had broken loose from the upside down Tomcat wedged against a rock. While we had lost the bacon, some cheese and the ham steak most of Jim and my food was still there. You want to call no injuries and recovering the cooler 'Good Luck' go for it. Me I'm going with 'Divine Intervention'.

Stay Safe, Paddle On, Have Fun.
