Day 2 - El Vado Ranch to Ponderosa Camp
The river trip itself was anti-climatic. No issues.
Big and fast
and over in what seemed like hours. My guess is the 32 miles could have been done in six hours with steady rowing. We stretched it out to two and a half days. Every
low spot
covered in water and there were few places to stop. The kayakers had Aragon camp so we quickly scouted Aragon Rapid and
kept heading down river
.
Ponderosa camp
was the overnight site of choice and it's a nice spot. A huge downside was that the receding water had left the
parking spot a muddy mess
and unloading was a slog.
