San Juan River - Sand Island to Clay Hills - May 2011
Quite the traffic jam at Government rapid since everyone arrived around noon. Although there was some bouncing off of rocks and a canoe shipped water while lining, suprisingly few issues at this low water level. Slickhorn B the assigned campsite and although a little short of tent spots, a nice camp. Initially thought the pools up Slickhorn were missing or scummy, but eventually we hit a few good ones. Supposed to have one more day onriver with an Ojleto camp, but dropping waters and fear of headwinds resulted in a command decision to go to Clay Hills a day early. In retrospect, that was an excellent decision by TL Mark.
