The day's plan was for us to go up the drainage leading to Surprise Valley, rimwalk to the Doll House, then come down the old Spanish Trail. Which is what we did after finally finding the drainage. This hike pretty much guaranteed the trip landed in the successful category. Don't get a chance to do day hikes like this very often. Was an interesting trail to the rim. Landscape went every which way.
