Day 2- Six Miles Above Sand Island to River House
First official stop was at the lower Butler Wash Petroglyphs. Never having done this river before, did not know enough to take the inside channel. It is a fairly hard ferry from the outside to make the parking lot. Lots of people about, as many from the roadside as from the river. Since it was late afternoon, the lighting was terrible for
photos but we tried anyway
. As the sun was directly in our eyes on leaving Butler, it was impossible to read the river. This added fodder to our usual argument about where to camp before TL Mark made a command decision for
this spot
. Turned out to be just fine and was actually a great approach to River House Ruin.
